Thelocephala pulchella selbstfertil?

    Hallo zusammen,


    ich habe einen einzelnen Kaktus aus der Familie Thelocephala, der vor einiger Zeit geblüht hat. Ich habe hier nix bekannt kompatibles zum Bestäuben (also habe ich von jedem verfügbaren Pollen etwas drauf verteilt), jetzt sind da zwei knackig aussehende Früchte dran.


    Preisfrage: Sind Thelocephala selbstfertil? Oder sind sie (unerwarteter Weise) eventuell kompatibel mit Gymnocalycium oder Hamatocactus oder gar Echinopsis (Rebutia schließe ich mal aus)?

    the genus Thelochepahla is in the Notocacteae tribe with Parodia and others (see Eriosyce) .

    I really doubt they are compatible with anything within the Trichocereae (Echinopsis/Rebutia/Gymnocalycium) or other tribes.

    I suppose this can be the effect of external pollen disabling self incompatibility mechanism, and what is achieved is self fertilization.

    thanks for the link. That's very interesting. If I'm interpreting this correctly then most of Eriosyce are self sterile, but considering the fact that they are located somewhere in Notocateae I guess if seeds are produced in the two fruits on my plant then they are most likely to be a result of induced/stimulated self-pollination (I don't know the correct English term for this).

    Hallo Katja,
    ich habe schon öfter Früchte an den Thelocephala gehabt, die super dick aussahen aber keine Samen enthielten.
    Ist bei diesen Pflanzen nichts ungewöhnliches. Vielleicht hast Du ja mehr Glück.
